Aleph Bet Preschool is Richmond’s premiere Jewish preschool for children of all Jewish backgrounds. Our Montessori-inspired curriculum and low child–to-teacher ratio, enables us to nurture every child’s unique rhythm of development, inspiring confidence through independence.
Aleph Bet’s homelike setting and warm, loving environment ensures a gentle transition from home to school for new preschoolers. The calm, soothing atmosphere provides children the necessary feeling of safety and security to explore, learn and have fun. The broad, balanced and exciting curriculum offers endless opportunities for intellectual, physical, social and emotional growth and development.
At Aleph Bet, Judaism is not just a subject. Woven into activities throughout the day is a vibrant Jewish component, which not only teaches the children about Shabbat, Jewish holidays and Jewish customs, but also instills a sense of belonging, pride and excitement in being part of the Jewish people.

Our Programs
babyccino
A chic meet for mod moms and their tots ages 0-3 years.
babyccino brings moms and their tots together in a fun, theme-based atmosphere providing an opportunity to build and deepen creative relationships. Moms also get to interact with one another enjoying fresh coffee and pastries while your toddler gets their first group exposure before beginning school. babyccino offers three 8-week sessions exploring different topics through hands-on learning and Play stations.
Preschool
Two-year-olds
Choose from 2, 3 or 5 day program, from 9:00-12:30 or 9:00-3:00
Our two-year-old program is designed to allow each child to explore and be actively engaged in a rich environment of developmentally appropriate activities. At this stage, children need to be given more independence, and every success of their own gives them a sense of accomplishment and helps to develop their self-esteem. Daily activities include table tasks, circle time, art, outdoor play, Hebrew group time, music, movement and lunch. Children who stay from 12:30 to 3:00 have naptime and then enjoy additional outdoor play.
Three to Five-year-olds
For Three-year-olds you may choose 3 or 5 day program from 9:00-12:30, 9:00-1:30 or 9:00-3:00.
For Four-Five-year olds, you may choose a five day program from 9:00-1:30 or 9:00-3:00.
Our three-to five-year-old program is designed to give your child a strong foundation for his or her future school and life experiences. Our first and foremost priority is to provide a safe and loving environment that allows the children to explore their world in a natural and pressure-free way. We provide many opportunities for gross and fine motor skill development specifically geared to build independence and to prepare the children for kindergarten. We expose them to a vast array of subjects in order to enrich their vocabulary, their knowledge and their love for learning. We help the children to develop their social skills through grace and courtesy lessons, and activities that foster confidence and kindness in each and every child.
Daily activities include choice of table tasks, group time, Montessori work time activities, outdoor play, lunch and Hebrew group time. At 12:30, the children enjoy additional work time and story time. Activities from 1:30-3:00 include outdoor play, snack, and organized group activities such as drama, cooking and art.
Child Care
Early Care: Available Monday through Friday from 8:00am – 9:00am.
After Care: Available Monday through Thursday from 3:00-4:00 and 4:00-5:00
Child Care is also available on an as need basis. The fee is $10.00 per hour or partial hour per child.
